Children and Young People
Welcome to the Services to Young People page. My name is Tim Brenton and I am the proud Manager of our Services to Young People range. I’m in a privileged position to work alongside a dedicated team of youth workers, therapists and practitioners that positively support young people in meaningful ways.
Our team of experienced youth practitioners share a passion for working with young people and our programs and interventions are strongly supported by the Connected Self psychology team. Connected Self has a passion and commitment to improve the life, educational and social outcomes of young people aged 5 to 25 years of age. We offer a Suite of Services based upon the Life Impact program model which has been developed by Connected Self psychologists in conjunction with our child and youth practitioners.
Life Impact: A Suite of Services
All of Connected Self's services and programs for children and young people are informed and deeply embedded within the Life Impact approach. We offer a suite of services for schools, agencies and families to build the strengths, resilience and capacity of children and young people to thrive and achieve life success. These include:
- Counselling and family therapy
- Rock and Water Programming
- Mentoring and Coaching
- Individually Tailored Programming
- Educational and Wellbeing Assessments
- Case Management
- Reflective Practice and Consultancy
- Family Empowerment and Support
- Life Impact Workshops and Training
- Art Therapy
By having a consistent framework or model underpinning all of Connected Self's services, the opportunity is provided to bring together child and young person, school, family, teacher and community agency around a common approach, and thereby work in a more holistic and integrated manner.
Responsive and Professional Services
We pride ourselves in delivering services that are responsive to the needs of the child, young person, family, school or child/youth agency. Each Connected Self child/youth service and program has been mapped against the Life Impact model, and the principles underpinning the Life Impact approach shape and guide the delivery of the program to ensure that our services align to best-practice knowledge and research.
We recruit only highly experienced child and youth practitioners. All staff undertake three days of training in the Life Impact approach (including the Introductory and Advanced Life Impact workshops - see here) and they receive regular supervision and practice reflection underpinned by the Life Impact approach.
Our team of youth practitioners are committed to working collaboratively with young people using best practice and evidence-based approaches to help them achieve their goals. We adopt a developmentally informed, relationship focused and strengths based approach to supporting children and young people fulfil their potential. We believe all young people have the capacity to positively change their life outcomes and we strive to assist young people to build positive relationships, find their inner (positive) compass and lead a life in which they can manage themselves safely.
In Partnership
Working with children and young people is a privilege and our goal is to deliver interventions and support for young people to help them achieve life success. This represents some of the most rewarding work we do at Connected Self. Our work is always guided by a partnership approach. That is, we work alongside the child, young person, family, school and youth agency and take the time to understand everyone's needs and expectations from our service. We then tailor a service, or selection of services, that is delivered in partnership or in a side-by-side manner, to deliver the stated goals.
